This series contains newspaper clippings relating to the gubernatorial election of 1956 and various issues facing state government at the end of that year. The purpose of the clipping files is unclear. While the clippings may have been collected by Governor Lee's office, it may be that they were collected by George Clyde's staff as they tracked publicity about Clyde's campaign and as the Governor-elect worked to come up to speed on current issues in preparation for his inauguration.; Alphanumerical by topic.; Historical Note; Newspaper clippings; Building and Construction;1956; Clyde Campaign;1956; Election Laws;1956; Governor-Elect, General;1956; Industry;1956; Institutions (State);1956; Governor's Mansion;1956; State Parks;1956; Personnel Changes;1956; Politics;1956; Governor Lee Proclamations ["Help Free Hungary Day"];1956; State Roads;1956; Salt Lake City/County, General;1956; Schools, Miscellaneous;1956; Taxes, General;1956; University of Utah;1956; Water;1956; Welfare Department;1956
