1 AN ACT RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF UNIFORM CODES
1 FOR PREVENTION OF, AND PROTECTION FROM, FIRE.
3 DISASTER AND OTHER HAZARDS: TO PROVIDE FOR UNI-
4 FORM ENFORCEMENT OF CODES. ESTABLISHING A
5 STATE BOARD OF FIRE PREVENTION, APPROPRIATING
6 FUNDS FOR A STATE FIRE MARSHAL, ESTABLISHING
7 THE TERMS OF OFFICE AND DUTIES OF MEMBERS OF
8 THE STATE BOARD OF FIRE PREVENTION, AND DESIG-
9 NATINC, THE METHOD OF FILLING VACANCIES.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Utah:
1 Section 1. This net shall be known as the Utah State Fire Pre-
2 vention Law.
3 Section 2. The purposes of this act are:
4 (1) To provide for the adoption of uniform minimum codes for
5 prevention of, and protection from, fire, disaster and other hazards
6 in the political subdivisions of the state.
7 (2) To provide for enforcement of uniform codes in the po-
8 litical subdivisions of the state.
9 (8) To establish a uniform fire prevention code on all public
10 buildings and to check compliance in all political subdivisions of the
11 state. Where local ordinances cover the uniform code on public build-
12 ings, the state fire marshal may delegate the responsibility for inspec-
13 tion and enforcement of the code to the proper local authority.
14 (4) To coordinate the efforts of all people engaged in fire sup-
