An Aet Providing for the Support of Illsg—unst* Children.
il enacted by tint Legislature of tlie State of Utah:
Section 1. That on complaint made to any Justice of the
Peace in this State by an*- unmarried woman realdent therein,
who ahall hereafter be delivered of an illegitimate child, er
being pregnant with a child which, if bom alive, may be an
illegitimate child, accusing on oath or aflrmatlon, any person of being the father of aald child, the Justice shall take
such arenaatlon In writing, and If satis*-— that there is good
grouuda therefor, ahall leeuo a wtri—it for the arrest of such
accused peraon to aaawer to said complaint' and on return
of aneh warrant the Jtatlce, in the prcecnee of the accused
per*—, shall examine the complainant under oath rwpeclino
tbe cauac of her complaint, and such accused penson shall be
allowed to ask the complainant any question he may think

aaswer-s, togetlier with every other pan of the exatilnatiot,
sliall be reduced lo writing by the Jtatice of the Peace, and
if on such examination the party aerated shall pay or sectre
to bo paid to the rnaiplaluiuit, such sum or snrnn of money , . .,

of the county in which said complaiuaut shall reside and their
successors in ofbee, coudltioued to save auch connly free from
