AN ACT REGULATING THE EXAMINATION AND LICENSING
OF CHIROPODISTS, DEFINING CHIROPODY; AND PRESCRIBING THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Utah:
1 Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in or
2 to follow, or to attempt to engage in or to follow, the profession,
3 occupation, practice or calling of Chiropody, unless he or she shall
4 first have been registered and shall have obtained a license from
5 the Department of Registration.
6 Section 2. Chiropody is defined as the diagnosis, medical, sur-
7 gical and mechanical treatment of all ailments of the human foot,
8 or any one or combination thereof, except the correction of deform-
9 ities requiring the use of the knife, amputation of the foot or toes,
10 or the use of an anesthetic, other than a local anesthetic.
11 Section 3. Any person desiring to obtain a license to practice
12 Chiropody shall make application in writing, verified under oath, to
13 the Department of Registration, for examination, together with sat-
14 isfactory proof that the applicant is over the age of twenty-one
15 years, of good moral character and has obtained a preliminary edu-
16 cation, which is equivalent to four years instruction in a High School,
17 and be a graduate of a reputable and legally incorporated School of
18 Chiropody, recognized as such by the Department, and to pay to
19 the Department an examination fee, and shall be present at a time
20 specified for the examination of applicants;
21 All examinations shall be given by or under the supervision
22 of the Department of Registration. And the Director will appoint
23 a committee of three chiropodists to conduct such examinations. If
24 the Department is satisfied that the applicant is above the age of
