AN ACT PROVIDING THAT FREIGHT CHARGES ON
CAR LOADS OF COAL DELIVERED AT ANY
POINT WITHIN THE STATE WHERE RAILROAD
TRACK SCALES ARE MAINTAINED, SHALL BE
/-N BASED UPON THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF SAID
\ COAL AT THE POINT OF DELIVERY, PRE
SCRIBING THE MANNER OF WEIGHING SUCH
COAL AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR A
VIOLATION OF ANY PROVISION OF THIS ACT

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Utah: ,fl 3
1 Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any common
2 carrier organized under the laws of this State, or any
3 common carried>doing business within this State, to col-
4 lect freight charges from any consignee, Tor coal in car
5 load lots delivered at any point within the State where
6 railroad track scales are^maintained by the common carrier
7 transporting such coal, for any weight in excess of the
8 actual weight of coal delivered to said consignee; and in
9 determining the actual weight of such coal the common
10 carrier shall be entitled to take the weight of the empty
11 car as determined by weighing such car at the point where
12 the coal is loaded for shipment and deducting such weight
18 from the gross weight of the car and coal as weighed at

14 the point of delivery of said coal to the consignee; such
15 latter weighing shall be done by an eOswrisea weigh
16 master within twenty-four hours preceding the time when
17 the common carrier has set the car of coal at a place to
