Governor Announces CCJJ Director
Tom Patterson to lead CCJJ, upon Senate confirmation
Salt Lake City - Governor Jon Huntsman today named Tom Patterson as Executive Director of
the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.  Patterson has been acting director of CCJJ
since July.
"I admire the leadership that Tom brings to CCJJ," Governor Huntsman said. "He has a
tremendous combination of qualities that will make him a great director and I look forward to
continuing to work with Tom in this capacity."
Patterson has served within CCJJ as the Director of the Utah Sentencing Commission. Prior to
this appointment, Patterson served as the Rush County Attorney in Kansas, as well as legal
counsel and Chief Administrative Law Judge with the Utah Department of Workforce Services.
Patterson is a graduate of Brigham Young University and earned his law degree from Washburn
University in Topeka, Kansas. Patterson and his wife, Reta, live with their five children in
Alpine.
"It is an honor to have been asked by the Governor to serve as Executive Director of CCJJ,"
Patterson said. "I am excited to address issues of great importance to our State's criminal and
juvenile systems and to work with so many conscientious people in these vital areas."
Patterson will replace Michele Christiansen, who was named General Counsel to the Governor.
Patterson's appointment is subject to confirmation of the Utah State Senate.
