The "undersigned Citizens of Utah Territory, rescectfully
state that Neil MuTloy, a citizen of this Territory, on the
3rd. day or" March \-&8o- In the Third Judicial District
Court of said Territory, convicted of Murder in the Second
Degree, and was by the jury convicting him of the same,
reccommended to the mercy of the Court, that thereafter and
thereupon he was sentenced by the Judge of said Court for a
term of twelve years, to be confined in the Utah Penitentiary until said term expires.
We respectfully state that he is in our judgment an
object of Executive Clemency, appealing to you for the same
upon the follwoing grounds;
I. That he has a disease known as Consumption. And that
unless pardoned his life will be very much shortened, owing
to the nature of the disease and sedentary life that he is
compelled to live owing to his imprisionment.
